Mooiste fotografie plekken Nederland 2023.

When starting with Photography, you will probably search the internet for the best spots around you where you can work your magic. Or at least that’s what I did. After some time, I started to get the idea that I kept finding the same locations, or whenever I found something online, the reality was different. This didn’t help my creative progress, and I took fewer and fewer pictures. The standard search terms I used were; “Mooiste fotografie plekken in Nederland“ or “Fotografie Nederland. “I am not saying these spots are bad, but there are sooooo much more places to discover, and most locations you will find online are simply outdated; some posts are even from 2017. So that’s why I decided to share my experience on those spots and add a couple of new updated ones. There is much to discover in The Netherlands to feed your creative process, which I am happily willing to share.
So here it is; Mooiste fotografie plekken Nederland 2023, Wildlife edition.

I will upload more if there is enough interest in these mini-blogs.
Hotspots like Architecture, nature, and more!

Lentevreugd, Wassenaar.

Fantastic place with wild horses and Highland cattle. When parking your car, you will immediately find these fantastic creatures. You will discover primarily spread grass fields with water and small forest areas here. 1/2.

Lentevreugd, Wassenaar.

These are the wild horses you can and will find in Lentevreugd. But be careful; if you have some tasty sweets in your backpack, they will come after you; I found out the hard way, haha. 2/2.

Bentwoud, Benthuizen.

In case you didn’t notice, I’ve got a thing going on for Highland cattle—such amazing and photogenetic animals.

Alpaca farm.

Who doesn’t love Alpaca’s? I found a lovely little farm where you can take your time catching some shots of these little fur balls.

Huis ter Heide, Tilburg.

Yes. I know. More Highland cattle. This is a fantastic place with what looks like a mountain in the back, a mountain in the Netherlands, you ask? It’s a trash mountain, haha. But with some mist in the back, you get the idea you are in a different country.

AWD, De Zilk.

This is my go-to place where I spend most of my Sunday mornings. You will find so many deers here; it’s crazy! When you park your car, there they are. And who doesn’t love some low-effort photography?

Veluwe.

And another one. We do have a lot of these beauties over here in The Netherlands. But it never gets boring.

AWD, Vogelenzang.

There are multiple entrances for AWD. Mostly sand, but if you take this entrance, you will find the “forest“ part of the park—also a moody place for taking forest photography. I will come back to that in my next blog!

Natuurpark, Lelystad.

This is such a fantastic place. You have to pay for parking, but the park itself is free, and you can get great food at the restaurant. You will find Horses, Moose, otters, and more in this park. Perfect for wildlife photography.

Last but not least.

And, of course, all these places have many other things to show, not only the Highland cattle. There are also wild foxes, fantastic-looking birds, and many beautiful landscapes. For every photographer out there, you will create your own experience and have your view on things. I hope these spots help and that you can find something less known.
Go out there and have fun!

Photography tips.

One of the best tips I can give you is to make sure you take a telelens with you. In all honesty, when I started with photography and couldn’t afford a big zoom lens, I just took my 24-70 lens and got really close to the animals. Was it the smartest thing to do? No... Did I get some amazing shots? Yes, but in the end, it’s not worth the risk, and it stresses out the animals. And with a telelens, you will also get such fantastic shots. If you can’t afford to buy a telelens, no worries. I will not be promoting companies where you can rent them (I will if they sponsor me… haha), But a 200-600 or 70-200 lens for the entire weekend can go for as low as 45,- euros. A small tip on that. If you rent a lens on Friday and return it on Monday morning, then you’ll have it for, let’s say, three full days and only pay for 2!
